Hazard Mitigation is the planning and proactive approach before a storm or natural disaster.   As with all areas in Louisiana, mitigation is necessary to reduce the risk of life and property loss by lessening the impact of a disaster.

The southern region has experienced severe damage and loss in recent years. FEMA and other federal, state and local agencies are committed to providing communities with the tools needed to be proactive in planning for disaster.
Since 2005, AFA’s debris monitoring staff has worked diligently to ensure that debris clean up is done timely and under the provisions of FEMA’s Public Assistance Guidelines. We have performed work as such in Calcasieu, Cameron, Beauregard, Allen, Jefferson Davis, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parishes. In addition, as a result of federal guidelines, we have worked with many of these communities on their Hazard Mitigation Plan.
We are committed to assisting communities in providing proactive solutions to ease the stress should a natural disaster arise.
